Welcome to Chipunga Farms Limited, where sustainable agriculture meets empowerment. We are a dynamic agribusiness venture under the stewardship of the Diocese of Karonga, driven by a vision to cultivate self-reliance and contribute to the agricultural landscape of Malawi.
Our Journey
Founded in January 2018, Chipunga Farms Limited has evolved into a beacon of agricultural innovation. Specializing in coffee and macadamia plantations, our three farms—Mughese Coffee Farm, Chiwela Farm, and the flagship Chipunga Farm—are strategically managed to create a harmonious blend of growth and productivity.
Our Operations
Plantations in Progress
At various stages of development, our farms are meticulously tended by a dedicated team. Chipunga Farm, the largest among them, spans 286.46 hectares, earmarking 160.0 hectares for coffee and macadamia plantations in the next five years.
Workforce and Community Support
With a permanent workforce of 26 and seasonal employment for over 230 workers, we also support 226 smallholder out-grower farmers, particularly in coffee and honey production. This collaborative effort not only contributes to our success but enriches the communities we operate in.
Current Achievements
Revenue and Growth
In the 2021-2022 season, we achieved a milestone revenue of MK72,156,050.00 (EURO 67,651.84) primarily from the sale of macadamia and coffee. Our farms are projected to reach even greater heights, with a sales projection of MK177,482,860.00 (EURO 166,182.45) in 2023-2024.
Expansion Plans
Looking ahead, our strategic plan outlines an ambitious expansion, with the Chipunga Farm aiming for a 50-hectare coffee plantation and 110 hectares for macadamia by 2029. We collaborate closely with Lunyangwa Agricultural Research Station for technical expertise.
Value Addition for a Sustainable Future
Roasted Delights
Embracing value addition, Chipunga Farms Limited is set to launch roasted coffee and macadamia products in 2024. This not only promises a delightful experience for consumers but also opens new avenues for market engagement.
Financial Landscape
Despite challenges in the 2022-2023 season, our commitment to financial sustainability remains steadfast. We seek bridging finance to navigate temporary shortfalls, ensuring uninterrupted operations and progress.
Our Vision for Sustainability
3-Ps Approach
Aligned with our commitment to the planet, people, and profit, we follow a 3-Ps approach to business. Our initiatives include protecting catchment areas and actively involving the community in economic enterprises.
